A Rough and Clean Start to 2013

The best news first...
Zander James got baptized on Saturday, January 5, 2013
It was a special day, and he got to have his own special baptism.  We are proud of our sweet Zander.

We weren't sure the baptism was actually going to happen because the first day of the year, all of us but Aaron, came down with a horrible flu that knocked us out for over a week!

This is about how we felt that whole first week.

Sick time=snuggle time, though, so we had lots of snuggles.

Thanks to many prayers and ibuprofen, we got our act together long enough to spend the morning with Zander at the church.  Aunt Megan took some fun pictures.  We are looking pretty sickly in some of them, though.

Newest member of the church.
Afterwards we had a brunch with friends and family that I didn't take a single picture of.  At least I got one of the cute centerpieces.

So Monday, the 7th, two days after the baptism, my fever was finally below 100.  Zander was still home sick from school, but Aaron had to leave and go back to work (he'd been home taking care of us for a week).  He called me in the late morning and said his stomach was hurting really bad.  A few hours later, he called and said he was on his way to the hospital...he suspected appendicitis.  After a five plus hour wait in the ER, I met him at the hospital with my low grade fever to be there while he had an appendectomy.  Needless to say, he got another couple weeks off work.  He definitely would have rather been at work!

The next Monday, Zander ran in the house after school screaming.  He had tripped in the driveway and broke his tooth right in half!  Oh my!!  I am so paranoid about losing teeth.  You only get one set.  I was devestated!  Luckily Dr. Wilson was able to fix it, but it will probably have to be fixed a few times in his childhood and then in his teens when he's done growing they will fix it for good.  So sad!

So...these were the first two weeks of the year.  It can only get better from here right.  Bottom line is we are blessed.  At least we are healthy, and a week of sickness isn't normal.  And at least Zander has teeth to break!
